What's New for the 2023 Ram 2500?
In the 2023 model year, the Ram 2500 gains a variety of new features as well as an all-new trim level. New for the 2023 model year is a fully digital gauge cluster. Spanning 12 inches, the instrument cluster is fully customizable to show drivers pertinent driving information such as vehicle speed, vehicle dynamics, driver assists, turn-by-turn navigation, and much more, depending on the driver's preferences. These options can be selected, and the system will memorize them for the future. The new 12-inch instrument cluster is standard on the Rebel, Power Wagon, and Limited trim, while optional for the rest of the lineup. Speaking of the Rebel, this is the new trim level for the 2023 model year. Previously exclusive to the Ram 1500 lineup, the Rebel takes the truck to the great outdoors with a wide range of standard off-roading equipment and features. These include a limited-slip rear differential, Bilstein gas-charged shock absorbers, five-link rear coil suspension, 11.1 inches of ground clearance, a rear electronic locker, 33-inch all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and more. The Rebel is instantly recognizable by its unique grille and sport performance hood. It also features LED exterior lighting, an 8.4-inch or 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, three seating layout options, cloth or leather seating, and more.
Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2023 Ram 2500
Heavy-duty trucks are the choice of drivers in need of more power, mostly for towing needs. Power is something that the Ram 2500 has plenty of. Standard equipment for the 2023 Ram 2500 lineup is a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive system, the HEMI V8 delivers 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. This allows the Ram 2500 to haul up to 17,540 pounds when properly equipped. Meanwhile, for maximum towing capacity and performance, the 6.7L Cummins TurboDiesel inline six-cylinder engine is optional. This provides up to 19,980 pounds of towing capacity with 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. The turbodiesel engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The transmission's gear ratios are tuned to handle the amount of torque the engine produces. Rear-wheel drive is standard equipment for the Tradesman, Big Horn, and Laramie, while 4x4 is optional. The Limited, Power Wagon, and Rebel, however, all come standard with 4x4.
Is the 2023 Ram 2500 Safe?
While the Ram 2500 prides itself on being capable, comfortable, and convenient, it is also a safe truck. The frame is made up of 97% high-strength steel and is designed to withstand impact and actually direct energy from a crash away from the cabin. Additionally, all-around airbag coverage is provided by front and rear curtain airbags, along with front and side airbags for the driver and passenger seats. The frontal airbags use adaptive damping, which detects the size of the occupant and the severity of the crash and deploys the airbag with the appropriate amount of force based on that information. In addition to the standard safety equipment, the Ram 2500 is eligible for a wide range of driver assistance technologies. These include lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, front and rear park assist, blindspot monitoring with trailer coverage, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic warning, and more.
