HYBRID TECHNOLOGY
ESAVE MODE
eSave Mode prioritizes the 2.0L engine. This saves the battery charge for later use. When power demand is low, the engine shuts off. It can also be reconfigured to increase the battery charge as well.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING
This feature allows the battery to be charged when decelerating and braking. The Max Regeneration feature remaps the accelerator pedal to command more aggressive regen at low pedal positions. It allows you to slow the vehicle down without the brake pedal, but a complete stop always requires the brake pedal. It also stays selected until you turn it off.

The Wrangler 4xe system is paired with a 2.0L I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine to bring out the best in already proven Jeep® Brand 4x4 capability. A 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative brake booster and eight-speed automatic transmission work together to send impressive amounts of power and torque to each wheel, maximizing the capability of every component. The sealed and waterproof battery pack and electronics even perform in tough conditions like fording creeks and streams up to 30 inches in depth. Preproduction model shown.

What gives the Wrangler 4xe its power?
The 2021 Wrangler 4xe comes with a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine and two electric generators, one mounted on the cylinder head, the other mounted in front of the transmission. Powering the electric generators is a 17-kWh, 96-cell, 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack under the second-row seat. The engine is mated to a sturdy TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4xe offers 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of instantly available torque for a 6-second 0-60 time! What's more, the Wrangler 4xe gets a combined 49 MPG, a total driving range of 370 miles, and 21 miles of all-electric driving. The E-Selec buttons put the driver in control of the engine by allowing them to choose between hybrid, electric, and E-Save. E-Save mode disables the two electric generators allowing the battery pack to charge and save for a time when fully electric power is desired. Drivers can monitor fuel economy, battery charge, and usage on the Hybrid Pages displayed on the Uconnect touchscreen.

Based on the upper-level trims of the gas-powered Wrangler, the 4xe trim lineup comes with no bad options. Just some of the Wrangler 4xe Sahara's standard features include body-color fender flares, 20-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry/ignition, leather-trimmed upholstery, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 9-speaker Alpine premium audio system. The Rubicon focuses on off-road capability, just like the gas-powered Rubicon. It brings 33-inch all-terrain tires under high-clearance body-color fender flares, a Rock-Trac 4x4 transfer case, FOX suspension parts, electronic locking front and rear differentials, an electronic disconnecting front sway bar, and more.
