Recovery Gear and First Aid Kit
When we talk about recovery gear, we are talking about a winch, tow straps, shackles, and a Hi-Lift jack. These items will help you get unstuck if your Jeep gets stuck in mud, sand, or other off-road terrain. Of course, if you have a new Jeep, certain features will send the torque to specific wheels to help you get unstuck, but it's always good to have some extra gear on hand that help you out of difficult situations. Another thing to bring with you is a First Aid Kit, as accidents can happen when you are on the trails, and having a First AId Kit with a few bandages, anti-septic, and other things may help you in case of an emergency!
Navigation
When you go off-roading, it's essential to know where you are and where you are going, which is why we highly recommend taking a GPS, maps, and a compass with you to help you navigate unfamiliar off-road trails. These things will make it so you never get lost and can find your way back. We also highly recommend taking food, water, and a portable stove or grill to cook meals. This is especially important if you plan on being on the trails for an entire day, as you will surely be hungry when you are out on the trails.
Clothing and Communication Devices
If you are out on the trails for a long time, you will get cold, so we recommend taking a lot of layers with you as you go off-roading and wearing comfortable and durable things. You should also consider bringing rain gear and a hat, and sunscreen for sun protection. You will also want specific communications devices with you, such as a radio or walkie-talkie, to communicate with other members of your off-roading group and call for help if needed. It would also be best to tell other people where you're going if these things aren't working correctly.
More Tools
Before heading out, bring a toolbox with pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and spare parts such as fuses, belts, and hoses. These things will help you should your Jeep brake down when going off-road. It's a stop-gap, but it will get you to the nearest service station so your Jeep can be fixed appropriately. We also recommend bringing a fire extinguisher as it's good to have on hand if you have an engine fire or some other emergency, such as if your grille catches fire while cooking food on the trails.
