Headed to the campground this summer with the new camper? If so, make sure you have a vehicle that can tow it without an issue! After all, there’s no quicker way to destroy a vacation than having a vehicle break down just when your vacation gets started.  Trust me, the kids won’t be happy.

Thankfully, there’s a way to avoid this sort of thing and its spelled R-A-M. That’s right, with the right Ram truck, you don’t have to worry about towing capabilities. RAM trucks have been towing recreational vehicles with total ease for decades and providing a safe, comfortable ride while doing it. Let’s take a quick look at the Ram lineup for 2021 and see what they can tow.

How much can the 2021 RAM 1500 trucks tow?

The RAM 1500 is available with three different engines. Starting off, the 1500's base mill is a 3.6-liter V-6 assisted with Ram's eTorque 48-volt mild-hybrid drive system. It offers 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Next up is the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 pumping out 260 hp and 480 lb-ft. And, for those that want extreme, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft, hides under the hood of the TRX model. 

Depending on the model and engine, the RAM 1500 can tow up to an impressive 12,750 lbs with a payload capacity of 2,300 lbs. 

How much can the 2021 RAM 2500 trucks tow?

Next up the towing ability scale is the RAM 2500. With the standard 6.4L HEMI V8 engine, the Ram 2500 can pull 17,350 lbs, and with the available 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine, it will pull 19,680 lbs.

Aside from towing prowess, the 2500 might be the model for you if you have a particular configuration in mind. It can be ordered with a regular cab, crew cab, or two-row mega cab. Also, regular cab models can be ordered with an 8-foot bed, the crew cab are available with a 6-foot-4-inch  or 8-foot  bed, and the 2500 mega cab is offered just with the with the 6-foot-4-inch bed. 

How much can the 2021 RAM 3500 trucks tow?

The most powerful truck in the RAM family of towing machines is the RAM 3500. The 3500 is available with one of two engine choices: the 6.4-liter V-8 developing 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque or the diesel 6.7-liter Cummins turbocharged I-6. The standard Cummins churns out 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque but if you need more excitiment, a high-output version nets out 400 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque.
 
Oh, and what can it pull?  With the Cummins diesel in place, the Ram 3500 is rated at an astounding 37,100 pounds with a payload weighing in at 7,680 pounds.
