Get Organized
Clean out all your vehicle's compartments. In your rush to get inside and avoid the freezing temps, you may have debris, trash, or just too much stuff in the car. So let's throw out anything we don't need. Don't forget the truck. Clean out the wintertime mess. This is also an excellent time to ensure the spare tire is in good repair. Be sure your emergency kit is in order too.
Clean Your Console
The center console and dash of our cars can collect a lot of dust and fingerprints. It is always a good idea to wash this area off. However, be mindful to avoid getting electrical connections wet, but do wipe them down appropriately. Clean out cup holders from any coffee that may have spilled over the winter. Use a damp cloth to get the top of the dashboard, but be careful to dry it thoroughly.
Windows
After that winter driving with the salt and sand, your windows need some love. First, clean the inside and outside using a window cleaner. While cleaning your windshield, take the time to inspect your wipers and replace them if needed. You are sure to want wipers in good working order, especially during intense spring showers.
Carpeting and Upholstery
It is always best to save the carpets for last because all that dust and dirt you wipe off could end up on the floor. Next, using a damp towel, wash down the seats. If you have leather seats, be sure to use a leather conditioner after cleaning them. Get rid of any rock salt debris, mud, or dry dirt on the carpeting using a carpet-cleaning machine; if possible, a vacuum cleaner will work too. Finally, don't forget to vacuum the truck.
Wash and Wax
Every storm, your car gets exposed to salt and sand that can eat away the paint, and this is why you should give it a good bath every spring. Use a soft towel and a mild detergent to wash the vehicle down. Waxing the exterior of the car is a good idea. Find a spot out of the direct sunlight and choose a spray or liquid wax. Work in a small section at a time, and in no time, your car will be shining like new.
