Get your Ram maintenance done here!

Few pickups can compete with the power and capability of the Ram 1500. Add to this a spacious and technologically advanced interior and combine it with a solid exterior and you have got one of the best pickups ever created. When it comes to preserving your Ram, there are a few things that you can do to keep it running for a long time, such as regular oil changes and tire rotations. It's imperative that you keep up with your Rams maintenance, and the best way you can do it is through your vehicle's mileage. As you keep this in mind, take a look at this comprehensive list so that you can understand the ins and outs of your Rams maintenance and when you're ready, make an appointment to see our experts here at Akins!

Six Months or 8,000 Miles

You should only need service at the 8,000-mile mark if you tend to drive your Ram a lot or you tend to do a lot of off-roading. At this interval, you will need to change your oil filter first and foremost. You should also consider having our experts do a visual inspection of your vehicle and have your tires rotated so the tread wear will be evened out and everything is still in order.

20,000 Miles or 12 Months

Once you hit the 12-month or 20,000-mile month, the core of your Ram will need to be serviced. This service includes oil changes, a cabin air filter change, and a thorough inspection of the rod ends and front suspension. You should also get a brake lining inspection and replace it if needed. It's also a good idea to have our experts here at Akins check your entire brake system, especially if you are starting to hear any grinding or squealing noise. Your brakes are essential to the health and safety of your Ram, so if they are not functioning the way they should, have them checked!

30,000 Miles or 18-Months

When you get to the 18-month or 30,000-mile mark, you're going to want to have our experts here at Akins check the CV/Universal joints as well as the transfer case fluid. Your front and rear axle surfaces should also be inspected to ensure they are in working order. You should also have your tires checked, in general, to make sure they have enough tread and consider getting them replaced if necessary. Finally, you should have your engine's air filter replaced if it's dirty.

100,000 Miles or 72 Months and Beyond

At this interval, in addition to all of the inspections and replacements, your Ram will need a few other replacements, such as new spark plugs and a new PCV valve. If you didn't replace it at the 30,000-mile mark, now is an excellent time to change the engine air filter. The next interval is the 120,000-miles or 90-months where you will need to rotate your tires, lube the front drive shaft fitting, and have the CV joints inspected and replaced if needed. You should also have our experts here at Akins inspect the front and rear axle fluid and change the automatic transmission fluid and filters. The last interval is the 150,000-mile mark or 144-months. At this interval, you should have your engine coolant flushed and replaced, and you should also have your tires rotated.
