HurriCrate Engine Lineup
The first crate engine lineup offered by Dodge are the HurriCrate engines. There are two options available, both variants of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 Hurricane engine. These engines are designed to achieve more torque, more horsepower, and fewer emissions than naturally-aspirated V8 engines. The Cat 1 HurriCrate engine uses two low-inertia, high-flow liquid charge-air cooling turbos that deliver up to 22 pounds-per-square-inch (PSI) of boost. The pistons are made of cast aluminum with a cast iron top ring land insert. The engine achieves a 10.4:1 compression ratio when premium fuel is used. It uses single high-pressure direct fuel injection with a pump actuated by a chain-driven shaft. The Cat 1 HurriCrate engine uses an engine-mounted water-to-air charge cooler to keep the engine temperature in check. The Cat 1 HurriCrate engine offers drivers up to 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Cat 3 HurriCrate engine uses two Garrett turbochargers delivering up to 26 PSI of boost. The Cat 3 engine accomplishes enhanced performance with lightweight, forged aluminum, oil-jet-cooled pistons. The cylinders offer a 9.5:1 compression ratio using premium fuel. The Cat 3 uses dual high-pressure direct fuel injection instead of the single direct injection. This setup lays down up to 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque.
Hellephant Engine Lineup
While the lineup of HurriCrate engines uses two turbochargers, the Hellephant lineup puts a huge 3.0L IHI supercharger and GENIII cast iron or aluminum HEMI block engine to use. The Hellephant engine lineup includes four variants, A30, A170, C30, and C170. The A30 engine is formally called the Hellephant 426 Supercharged HEMI crate engine. It puts a 426 cubic inch bored and stroked GEN III aluminum HEMI block. It features 4340 H-beam rods with a 3.17-inch supercharger pulley and forged aluminum pistons. The A30 engine rips out an exhilarating 1,000 horsepower using premium fuel. The A170 engine builds on the performance of the A30 with an upgraded fuel system to run on E85 Ethanol to achieve more than 1,100 horsepower. The new C30 crate engine comes with a 376 cubic-inch cast-iron long block accompanied by a 3.0L IHI supercharger. It also features stronger rods and pistons, upgraded hardware, an improved valvetrain, and a larger throttle body. Coupled with premium fuel, this engine produces roughly 900 horsepower. Lastly, the C170 uses the same 376 cubic-inch engine with a 3.0L supercharger. However, like the larger 426 cubic-inch engines, the C170 engine is upgraded with an E85-capable fuel system to push out over 1,000 horsepower.
