Intro to the 2022 Dodge Challenger

The 2022 Dodge Challenger lineup spans across a total of eight trim levels! These include SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Super Stock. For the 2022 model year, the Scat Pack and Hellcat trims are eligible for a wide body kit that adds an extra 3.5 inches to the overall width for a more aggressive posture. Additionally, an all-new deluxe security alarm is standard on the Scat Pack trim and all trims that follow. This alarm is optional on the SXT, GT, and R/T trim levels. 

Being America’s iconic muscle car, you’re probably wondering about the 2022 Challenger’s powertrain options, which is an extensive list as well! The engine options line up with the trim levels. For example, the SXT and GT employ a 3.6L V6 engine offering 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the R/T trim provides 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque from a 5.7L HEMI V8. The Scat Pack kicks it up a few notches with a 6.4L V8 offering 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Challenger SRT Hellcat pumps out 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque from a supercharged 6.2L V8. The last engine option is the high-output supercharged 6.2L V8 engine. Under the hood of the SRT Hellcat Redeye, this engine pushes out 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, while in the Super Stock, it kicks out 807 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive is the standard platform for the 2022 Dodge Challenger. However, all-wheel drive is available for the SXT and GT trim levels. The SXT, GT, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock come with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, a 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the R/T, Scat Pack, and Hellcat. 

While the engines alone provide exhilarating performance, Dodge wanted to ensure everything about the Challenger captured the car’s racing spirit; from the exterior appearance to the interior layout. The Challenger’s high-performance nature begins with its low and wide stance and driver-centric cockpit, standard on all Challenger models. The R/T Scat Pack, featuring a naturally-aspirated 6.4L V8 HEMI, is built with drivers dreaming of the drag strip, offering a steady platform for racers to build on. All Challenger models that employ a V8 engine come with Active Exhaust to maximize the beloved HEMI growl. The Scat Pack and following trims come with Brembo high-performance disc brakes for serious stopping power. The SRT drive modes put the driver in control over the Challenger’s systems by controlling horsepower output, optimizing transmission shift points, and altering the suspension and traction to handle the current road surface best. SRT drive modes include Track, Sport, Custom, Auto, and Valet. The Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock are all eligible for the Rear Seat Delete Group to reduce weight and increase performance.
