Jeep is marking the end of Wrangler EcoDiesel production with the exclusive limited-edition Wrangler Rubicon FarOut. The FarOut edition is based on the Wrangler Rubicon 4-door. However, the Rubicon FarOut edition features a commemorative "Diesel 3.0L" hood graphic, exclusive "3.0 D" badging, and unique wheels. In addition, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler FarOut edition has unique 17-inch aluminum wheels and black leather seats with red accents. Plus, it comes with Jeep's Cold Weather Group, Safety Group, LED Lighting Group, Trailer-Tow, and Heavy-Duty Electrical Group.
What off-road equipment does the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut have?
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition has some significant off-road equipment that allows you to conquer whatever the trail throws at you. Every Rubicon FarOut edition will feature Jeep's third-generation Dana 44 front and rear heavy-duty axles, a 3.73-axle ratio, and the Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio.
When did Jeep first put the EcoDiesel in the Wrangler?
Jeep first introduced the EcoDiesel in the Wrangler in 2020. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel pumped out 442 lb.-ft. of torque, and was the most capable Wrangler to date. The 2020 EcoDiesel 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 came with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel was offered as a four-door configuration.
Which engines are offered in the Wrangler?
Since the Wrangler EcoDiesel's debut, Jeep released the Wrangler Rubicon 392, featuring 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, and the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, delivering 375 horsepower, 470 lb.-ft of instant torque, 49 MPGe, and 21 miles of all-electric range. With the EcoDiesel no longer an option after this model, the Wrangler buyers will have the choice of a 2.0-liter turbo I-4, 3.6-liter V-6, 6.4-liter V-8, and the plug-in hybrid drivetrain in the 4xe.
Is the EcoDiesel offered in any other Jeep vehicles?
For those worried about what this means for the EcoDiesel, Jeep confirmed that the engine is not dead. It will live on in the Jeep Gladiator. The Gladiator offers the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 in addition to the standard 3.6-liter V-6. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine provides up to 260 horsepower and best-in-class diesel torque of up to 442 pound-feet. Plus, its Variable Geometry Turbo technology, eight-speed automatic transmission, and 3.73:1 axle ratio offer incredible acceleration and the strength to handle the added low-end torque produced by the diesel engine.
