The Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV. This means that it provides you with power from a gas engine, as well as a rechargeable battery pack. Under the hood of the 2023 Wrangler 4xe, you’ll find a 2.0-liter direct-injection inline-4 engine rated at 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. When you’re in Hybrid or Electric modes, you’ll get instant torque, making the Wrangler 4xe feel quick and agile. The powertrain also features a pair of two electric motors, and a 17-kWh rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can provide you with up to 21 miles of electric range. The battery is totally waterproof-sealed, and you can even enjoy up to 31.5 inches of water fording capability! The Wrangler 4xe utilizes regenerative braking, which can help you recapture energy whenever the brakes are applied, which helps you conserve energy from the battery pack. You can still enjoy all the power and capability you’d expect from a Wranlger, including two available 4X4 systems, the Rock-Trac and the Selec-Trac. 

When you’re behind the wheel of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, you’ll have full control over how you want to use your vehicle’s power. As we mentioned above, there’s a gas engine as well as a battery pack, and you can choose when you’d like to use each power source. On your dashboard, you’ll see buttons for three selectable drive modes known as the E-Selec system. In Hybrid mode, your Wrangler will pull power from both the gas and the battery at once. This will let you harness the full potential of your vehicle’s horsepower and torque. In Electric mode, you’ll be relying solely on the battery pack, and can travel totally emissions-free for up to 21 miles. Then, your Wrangler 4xe will switch over to gas power when the battery runs low. Lastly, eSave mode will draw power from the gas tank first, allowing you to save your battery’s charge for later. This is a great option if you’re venturing away from a charging station, and want to conserve your battery life. The Wrangler 4xe has a charging port that can be monitored using LED indicators, or using the mobile app! 

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has all the classic features of the Wrangler lineup! For example, you can enjoy a removable roof, removable doors, and a fold-down windshield. There are four trim levels to choose from this year, the Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude. The Willys trim is new to the 4xe lineup for this model year, and it comes with features like 32-inch mud-terrain tires, Willys decals, and a Trac-Lok limited-slip differential. The Willys also has an Alpine premium sound system, and standard LED headlights. On the Sahara, you’ll find features like 20-inch wheels, and body-color door handles and fender flares for an all-around cohesive appearance. There are also Lagoon Blue tow hooks, and a Uconnect 4 NAV system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The Rubicon is the most athletic trim level in the bunch, with features like all-terrain tires, a disconnecting sway bar, and off-road rock rails. Last but not least, the High Altitude adds features like Nappa leather-trimmed seats with caramel-colored accent stitching, and a remote keyless entry system.
