If you prefer a diesel engine, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel is an available option, rated at 260 horsepower and a beefy 480 lb-ft of torque. Last but not least, the TRX trim has its own dedicated engine, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8, cranking out an outstanding 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque!

2022 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

Like the Ram 1500, the 2022 Chevy Silverado also presents four powertrain options for its newest lineup. However, there’s not as much variation throughout the options as you’ll find with the 1500. The standard engine is a 2.7-liter inline-4 rated at 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Up next is a 5.3-liter V8 which boosts output to 355 horsepower ad 383 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for an even greater boost, you can opt fr the 6.2-liter V8 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain can deliver around 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Last but not least, there is a diesel option, a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel inline-6, whose output is around 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, there’s no engine option that quite lives up to the power of the Ram 1500 TRX.

While it does supply some more muscular features like skid plates and all-terrain tires, there’s little to seak for in terms of true high-performance features like you’ll find on the Ram 1500 TRX. This model year introduced a newer, more modern redesign for the dashboard, but the first two trims still feature an older, clunker layout from previous years. If you opt for the top-tier High Country trim, you’ll gain access to upscale features like leather upholstery, and open-pore wood trim. With the Silverado’s infotainment system, you can access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as hands-free services using Google Voice and Amazon Alexa.
