Standard and available features for the 2022 Dodge Charger
When it comes to standard features, drivers enjoy a wide array even at the base-level SXT trim. Here, you’ll find 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, keyless entry, power-adjustable side mirrors, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a customizable digital driver information display, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and houndstooth cloth upholstery. While that’s a long list, it only gets better as you climb the trim level lineup! Opting for the GT trim will get you 20-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, fog lights, three-mode electronic stability control, Sport drive mode, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Skipping up to the R/T trim, you’ll get a V8 engine, Active Exhaust, LED fog lights, remote start, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Scat Pack and Hellcat variants get you performance-enhancing features that we’ll tell you more about below!
What engines power the 2022 Charger lineup?
Dodge aligns its engines with the trim level lineup. Starting with the first two trims, SXT and GT, you’ll find a 3.6L V6, which Dodge calls the Pentastar. The Pentastar engine delivers 292 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty of power for your everyday driving needs. However, if you’re looking for a bit more excitement in your everyday drives, the R/T trim has what you need, delivering 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. If that’s still not enough for you, have no fear, the Scat Pack is here! The Scat Pack packs a punch with 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, courtesy of the 392-cubic-inch 6.4L V8. If you’re looking to make people watch two sets of doors go by on the track, you will certainly get it done with the Hellcat Redeye’s supercharged 6.2L V8 engine, ripping out 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque! All engines in the Charger lineup mate to a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. However, the SXT trim and GT trims are eligible for all-wheel drive.
2022 Dodge Charger performance features
Dodge didn’t gain their legendary status by quitting while they were ahead. That’s why they developed Street and Racing Technology, more commonly known as SRT, to complement their already powerful engines. Although the Scat Pack isn’t supercharged, it does have a few of the same SRT features as the Hellcat Redeye. The Launch Control feature gives you the ability to set an exact RPM for the Charger to launch. After building up the RPMs to that level, release the brake and hold on tight! Additionally, the Line Lock feature locks the front brakes while allowing the rear wheels to spin freely, making it easy to warm up the tires with a quick burnout before a track run. The Scat Pack also employs SRT Drive Modes and SRT Performance Pages. The Drive Modes include Auto, Valet, Sport, and Track. Meanwhile, the Performance Pages display real-time engine output readings, 0-60 times, and an onboard dynamometer. Keeping all the power under control are Brembo high-performance disc brakes for unparalleled stopping power. While these features are all standard on the Hellcat Redeye, you’ll also find the SRT Power Chiller and SRT Race Cooldown. The Power Chiller uses A/C refrigerant to cool down the supercharger. Meanwhile, the Race Cooldown feature continues to run the intercooler pump and radiator fan after the engine is shut down.
