Ram has brought home the MotorTrend “Truck of the Year” award yet again, this time with the outstanding 2021 Ram 1500 TRX and it's easy to see why! The TRX comes outfitted with the latest and great off-roading features and capabilities that make it possible to take on the toughest terrain. This award makes Ram the only brand on the market to take home the “Of the Year” brand three consecutive times. In the previous two years, 2019 and 2020, the Ram 1500 and Ram Heavy Duty were awarded the “Truck of the Year” titles, showcases that Ram knows how to make stellar trucks that get the job done. Since Ram became a standalone brand just 10 years ago in 2011, they have taken home the title six times! How does a model earn the “Truck of the Year” award from MotorTrend?
MotorTrend works hard to recognize the best vehicles on the market in each category with their “Of the Year” awards. Each of the vehicles chosen as they represent exceptional value and a positive impact on the automotive industry as well as superiority in their class. A professional automotive test center houses three separate courses where each vehicle competing for an “Of the Year” award is evaluated. When the testing is over, the judges from MotorTrend picks out the finalists. Instead of pitting those finalists against each other, they are further evaluated based on six categories. They are safety, design advancement, efficiency, intended function, value, and engineering excellence.
Can you talk about the “Truck of the Year” Winner, the Ram 1500 TRX?
The TRX is a new addition to the Ram 1500 trim lineup for the 2021 model year and it is unlike any other trim, outfitted with off-roading capabilities and modern features that make it the ideal off-roading companion for every terrain. Building on the Limited trim level, the TRX adds features like Bilstein adaptive dampers with remote reservoirs, five underbody skid plates, a 12-inch touchscreen that gives drivers access to real-time performance data, a 2-inch suspension lift, Launch Control, an electronic locking differential, 35-inch all-terrain tires, upgraded brakes, and a Dana 60 solid rear axle. Under the hood of the TRX lies a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that kicks out up to 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
