What's under the hood?
Four wonderful engine options are available for the 2021 RAM 1500. Most trims come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that pumps out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with Ram's eTorque system, a mild hybrid system that improves fuel economy. Optional is a 5.7-liter V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, which is available with or without the eTorque. If you're hoping that the RAM 1500 has a diesel engine, you're in luck! The diesel engine for the RAM is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel that makes 260 horses and an astounding 480 lb-ft of torque. The last engine available is for the TRX, and it's a supercharged 6/2-liter V8 capable of producing up to 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. All of these amazing engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the option of rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive.
What are some of the features?
Seven trim levels are available for the RAM 1500, and each comes with an impressive amount of available features. The first trim out of the gate is the Tradesman, which comes with 18-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, trailer sway damping, and a 5-inch touchscreen with a six-speaker stereo. Moving up to the Big Horn brings more features such as s an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you are itching to take your RAM 1500 off-road, go with the Rebel trim as it comes with hill descent control, four underbody skid plates, an electronic locking rear axle, upgraded shocks, and all-terrain tires. If luxury features are more your speed, the Laramie and the Longhorn are your best bet as they have power mirrors, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, side steps, reclining heated rear seats with under storage, and a spray-in bedliner with in-bed lighting. Limited versions of the RAM 1500 bring a standard 12-inch touchscreen and 5.7-liter V8, four-corner air suspension, wireless charging pad, and premium leather bucket seats. The top RAM is the TRX, which has several performance features such as a head-up display, reverse steering control, and RamBox cargo storage.
What can you tell me about the safety features?
Your safety is a large concern for RAM, and the RAM 1500 comes with a ton of fantastic safety features. Available is a Blind Spot Monitoring System, which checks your blind spot for other vehicles and helps you make safer lane changes. Also available is an Adaptive Cruise Control System that helps the driver maintain a pre-set distance between the RAM and the traffic ahead. The Lane Keeping Assist System is also available, and it can help steer that RAM 1500 back in between the painted lines if the massive pickup happens to drift.
