What's under the hood?

At launch, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator comes equipped with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine making 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. While a six-speed manual transmission is standard with this engine buyers can opt for an 8-speed automatic transmission. Staying in line with Jeep’s off-road capabilities, the engine features a broad torque band with a focus on low-end torque. When 2020 finally rolls around Gladiator’s with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine will start rolling off the production line. The EcoDiesel is rated to make 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. All that extra torque requires an 8-speed automatic transmission designed to handle it. All engines paired with an automatic transmission feature engine start-stop technology. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator has a 4x4 payload capacity of 1,600 pounds and up to 7,650-lbs of towing.

How capable is the Gladiator?

The Jeep name implies impressive off-road capability and the 2020 Gladiator does not disappoint. Equipped with Jeep’s advanced 4x4 system the Gladiator is ready to take on the toughest trails! The Sport and Overland models feature the Command-Trac 4x4 system. This system has a two-speed transfer case with a 2.71:1 low-range gear ratio and a heavy-duty third generation Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 3.73 rear axle. The Gladiator Rubicon model comes with a Rock-Trak 4x4 system featuring a heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axle with a “4LO” ratio of 4:1. Tru-Lok locking differentials and a 4.10 front and rear axle ratio are both standard on this system. Being Jeep’s off-road specialized model the Rubicon features 33-inch tires, rear steel heavy-duty off-road bumper, and an available front steel winch-ready bumper. The Rubican has an impressive crawl ratio of 84.2:1 when equipped with a manual transmission and 77.2:1 when paired with an automatic transmission. To conquer any trail the Gladiator has an approach angle of 43.6 degrees, breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, departure angle of 26 degrees, ground clearance of 11.1 inches, and up to 30 inches of water fording.

What does the Gladiator have for features?

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator sits in a league all by itself thanks to Jeep 4x4 capabilities and class-exclusive open-air freedom. Jeep offers the same lightweight removable doors, roof, and fold down windshield you know and love from the Wrangler on the all-new Gladiator. The aluminum doors are stamped with the Torx bit size needed to remove them and inside you’ll find a tool kit with all the Torx bit sizes you need. A Sunrider soft top comes standard and features easy open-air options. These options quiet wind noise along with partial and full open top positions. The higher-end trims have an optional three-piece body-color hardtop while a black hardtop is available as an option for all models.
