2018 Ram  1500 vs 2018 Ford F150

Are you scouring the market for your next brand new pickup? Come check out the Ram 1500 and Ford F150! These two trucks are incredible and can be difficult to decide between. This review can help with that. New on the Ram 1500 in 2018, would be the additional standard features like the rearview camera, but the more exciting new addition would have to be the choice for a Limited Tungsten Edition or even a Midtier Harvest Edition! On the Ford F150, you have a new set of engines to choose from and a slight appearance change on the front and rear end styling.

2018 Ram  1500 Power & Handling

Three engines are available to the Ram 1500. The base engine itself is capable of producing a hefty 305 horsepower. Each engine is available to have either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed automatic transmission. These engines are also given with a choice of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The EPA has also given the Ram 1500 a high fuel economy estimate of 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway.

2018 Ford F150 Power & Handling

Six new engine options are available to choose from. The base engine comes with a high of 290 horsepower available. Each of these six engines is only available with a six-speed automatic transmission. It isn't until you reach the top level trim engine's do you get the option for a ten-speed automatic transmission. Some of the trim engine's are able to choose between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive too. The highest fuel economy estimate by the EPA is found to be 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

2018 Ram  1500 Features & Design

The 1500 comes with eleven trim levels. These trims, rather than simply building off each other, are each built to focus on certain tasks they may be used for. For example, one trim is better suited to heavy duty work, while another is more street style ready, without adding even one package. If you are looking for a mix between work and luxury, or off-roading and street style, packages are still available to help you customize.

2018 Ford F150 Features & Design

You can choose between six trim levels with the F150. Each trim builds off the previous adding more features to each level and only customizing the capabilities through the addition of packages. The only trim level that doesn't conform to this build off, is the off-roading trim. This is due to off-roading being difficult for the F150 to place in an available package.

Conclusions

While it may have fewer engine options, the Ram 1500 comes out on top with more capable overall engines, more designated trim levels and options, and can help save you a lot of cash up front without needing so many packages to customize. The F150 simply struggles to keep up. It doesn't have the same engine power, fuel efficiency, or trim focus, and it can rely heavily on packages to find the perfect trim to meet your wants and needs.
