2017 RAM 1500 at Akins Dodge Chrysler Jeep

For 2017, the Ram 1500 loses the Outdoorsman trim, and also there are some feature enhancements and migrations amongst trims. For instance, the Sport trim adds a security alarm and remote start as standard for 2017, the Laramie Longhorn model adds LED bed lighting, the Laramie Longhorn adds Keyless Go, SmartBeam and rain sensing wipers all as standard, the Bighorn inherits Automatic Temperature Control as standard, and all models gain a cabin filter that cleans everything 5 microns in size and higher! The six-speed automatic transmission has been removed from the lineup, leaving the well-tuned and capable eight-speed automatic as the available transmission.

Under the 1500's Hood

The 2017 Ram 1500 comes standard with a 3.6-liter gasoline V6 that makes 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A rear-wheel-drive configuration is standard, or buyers can get one of the two available 4WD systems. Both 4WD systems have a two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing. Standard on Sport, Laramie Longhorn and Limited (and optional on all except the HFE) is a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Standard on the HFE (and optional on all except Express, Sport and Rebel) is the EcoDiesel, a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 rated at 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission offered for all engines. A properly setup and outfitted gasoline 1500 with the V6 can tow up to 7,610 pounds, and the diesel V6 can get to 9,210 pounds. The V8 can tow up to 10,640 pounds.

Design of RAM 1500

There are 10 trim levels: Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Limited. The RAM 1500 truly excels at the interior cabin and overall value of its design features. The list of possibilities is way too large for this article, but here are some details. For infotainment, the Ram features two available Uconnect touchscreen systems, both with straightforward menus. Those systems are with either the 5-inch center screen or the available 8.4-inch screen which has large virtual buttons. There are also power-adjustable pedals, Bluetooth, voice controls, keyless entry and ignition, remote start, smartphone integration and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The 2017 Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup available in numerous body styles depending on what you prefer for bed length and cab size. The off-road-ready Rebel is only available in the crew cab with the 5-foot-7 bed and it showcases black fender flares, front and rear Bilstein shock absorbers, tow hooks, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, LED foglights and keyless entry. Don't forget the optional RamBox system, which puts a pair of lockable compartments over the rear fenders inside the truck bed. With the right equipment selections, these can even be remotely locked and unlocked.

What does the adjustable air suspension do?

It's a way for the Ram 1500 to make the drive less bumpy feeling, and it eases liftover and step-in heights by lowering about 2 inches when parked. Also it can tweak your clearances when off-roading!

What are your current hours of operation?

We are open Monday-Friday 9am-7pm, and Saturdays from 9am-5:30pm.

Conclusions

Standard safety equipment on the 2017 Ram 1500 includes stability control, hill start assist, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, trailer-sway control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. A fully integrated trailer-brake controller is optional, as are front/rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. In government crash testing, regardless of cab length, the Ram 1500 earned four out of a possible five stars for overall crash protection, with four stars for total front-crash protection and five stars for total side-crash protection. Its seat and head restraint design was rated Good for whiplash protection in rear impacts, in The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests. Models with Uconnect Access have an emergency telematics system that links you with 911 with one button and also gets access to stolen vehicle tracking. All in all, drivers love this vehicle for all of the feature sets and design that Dodge has painstakingly put in to it.
