When the battery is empty, the Hybrid becomes a part-time electric vehicle. The wheels are powered by the electric drive system or supplements by the adapted 3.6-liter V6 engine. The battery pack is tucked away under the second-row floor in a battery case. It can be fully recharged in as little as two hours. The conventional electrification of a vehicle uses two motors. The first motor serves as a generator and the second motor delivers torque to the wheels. The one-way clutch lets the generator motor deliver torque to the wheels depending on the driving condition. This makes the minivan more efficient, refined, and improved. The regenerative braking system converts kinetic energy to electricity that provides additional range by charging the lithium-ion battery. When the minivan decelerates from a higher speed, the high-voltage motor becomes a generator and charges the battery to extend the electric range.
