Visit Ober, Gatlinburg

 

Many people in the South are only a few hours drive away from enjoying a few winter time activities. One might not think of snow or skiing when you think of the South but there are mountains and sometimes the weather makes for a good amount of snowfall. Over, Gatlinburg Tennessee is one of the best places to enjoy the slopes when the weather calls for snow. But even without snow there are other activities to enjoy at Ober. It’s not Calle done 4 season getaway for nothing. But let’s focus on some winter fun for Southern dwellers that long for a little cold adventure.

 

Skiing

Of course when we think about snow in the mountains, skiing comes to mind. Ski season in Ober typically starts at the end of December and runs through March. So keep an eye out for snow predictions and rates to stay. All Ober needs are low enough temperatures and their snow making machines do the rest in order to cover the ten snow trails. Of course if it actually snows, that’s means even more fun. You can check weather, open slopes, snow conditions and “type” of snow directly on the Ober website.

Ober offers trails for any skill range and also has a dedicated kids area. There are ski and sno boarding lessons available on site which is a great way to start off your weekend on the slopes especially if it’s your first time.

Snow tubing

One of the great and fun things about Ober is snow tubing. Regardless of actual snowfall, tubing season opens right after thanksgiving and last through March. You will still be able to enjoy some Ice fun, take in the sites and thrills on the 400 ft tubing slope and heat up with some hot chocolate afterwards.

 

Ice Skating & Ice Bumper Cars

So maybe you don’t want to ski down the slopes or feel the thrill on the snow tube. Maybe you just want to practice your ice skating skills. Ober features an all year round indoor ice skating  rink. Spend a few hours learning if you’re a beginner or relive your Olympic dreams on the ice.

 

If you enjoy the bumper cars during the warming months st amusements parks then you definitely don’t want to miss ice bumper cars. Located in a different area of the ice rink, you can crash and bump your way into lots of fun with other ice drivers.
